Tips for arrival

All of our venues pose parking challenges. To save yourself a headache, we recommend using rideshare services like Uber and Lyft to get to our welcome party and reception.

Things to do in Northeast Los Angeles

One of our favorite nearby places is the Huntington Library and Gardens in Pasadena. It’s easy to spend an entire day visiting all of the gardens and galleries, but it’s also great for a short visit. If you don’t have all day, we recommend checking out the Japanese and Chinese gardens followed by lunch at the Jade Court Cafe. If you have a little longer, check out the art galleries. They always have something interesting showing in the Boone Gallery. Reservations are required and can usually be booked 24 hours in advance.

Fun fact: Pasadena is home to many of the most classic examples of American arts and crafts architecture! We love admiring the beautiful homes in our area. For an informal tour, we recommend strolling the streets near Lower Arroyo Park, between Arroyo Blvd on the east, Orange Grove on the West, Bellefontaine on the south, and Arbor on the north. See map below. Gamble House, pictured right, hosts tours most days.

Get a fancy coffee, matcha, or tea at Kumquat on York and then peruse the shops between Avenue 50 and Avenue 52. Some of our favorites at Kumquat are the matcha tonic, green plum shaken (GPS), and the cloudy with a chance of peanuts. York has lots of interesting shops where you can find vintage clothes, records, fun snacks, stationary, art supplies, and much more. When you’re done, stop for a beer on the large outdoor patio at the Hermosillo.

Where to eat

Finding the best food in LA is our #1 hobby. See below for some our favorites, but let us know if you need other recommendations.

Yang’s Kitchen — Our favorite restaurant thanks to their flawless food. We love visiting for their asian fusion brunch, pictured right, but they also do a great dinner service.

Dunsmoor — Wonderful food and service that veers Southern. Pricey and requires reservations. Try the cornbread!

Delia’s — If you’re staying in the neighborhood and want good chilaquiles and breakfast burritos, look no further than Delia’s! This is a true neighborhood spot and is cash only.

Capri Club — Italian apertivo bar in a converted old school Italian restaurant. Great for a cocktail and a snack.

Yellow Paper Burger — Leslie’s favorite burger pop-up turned brick and mortar. California-style burgers that reference In n Out, but better.

Belle’s Delicatessen and Bar — Once a bagel shop operating out of the music venue across the street, Belle’s is now a full service restaurant and bar with great booths. Still, we recommend their bagel sandwiches!

The Original Pantry Cafe — If you’re staying at Hotel Figueroa, this LA institution since 1924 is about a block away. It’s a great place to get a classic diner breakfast.
